About
Bio: Winnie is part of Fidelity International’s Investment Management Support & Solutions - Sustainable Investing Solutions team where her focus is to work cross-functionally with different teams and deliver on Sustainable investing strategic initiatives through a combination of analysis, solutioning, and project management capabilities.
Winnie is the regional lead for the local LGBT+ network in Singapore and also plays an additional role of regional APAC coordinator and has driven the progress, increased awareness and visibility of the firm's Diversity & Inclusion efforts.
As regional lead, Winnie has taken a proactive approach to understand each APAC market’s nuances and current situations to identify opportunities with the aim to increase education, awareness, and visibility of inclusion initiatives, which has significantly expanded LGBT+ allyship sign-ups across the region within a year. She also organised the first Mandarin ally training session, ensuring materials and sessions were tailored for the target audience, and granting access to D&I training to a wider group of audience. She also led a cross-network collaboration with other D&I networks to cover topics on Chinese heritage and inclusion.
Winnie was involved in global initiatives to explore and enhance D&I policies and benefits that has led to the review of internal guides, resulting in the creation of policies on inclusive language and menopause.
She has also collaborated with other D&I Networks to organize a lunch and learn event for the Singapore office to commemorate International Men’s Day and Mental Wellbeing and Pink Day.
Since early in her career, Winnie both observed overt and covert discriminatory actions and realised that many of such behaviours are often due to a lack of awareness and unknown bias. She has also interacted with individuals who shared that they felt unable to be their true selves in workplace settings due to a fear of feeling judged and ostracised. This has inspired her to become a strong supporter and advocate for Diversity & Inclusion. Winnie believes that everyone should have the right to be their authentic selves in the workplace and bringing their whole selves to work is essential to mental well-being.
Winnie has exhibited role model behaviour through her commitment to contributing to events that promote diversity and inclusion, continuously learning from people, and maintaining an open and accepting mind to all individuals. This includes partnering with business leaders to identify internal initiatives, mentoring colleagues, delivering training sessions to colleagues to better understand the importance of diversity & inclusion, challenge the norms and traditional mindsets of ‘how things should work’, and increase the use of inclusive languages.
