David Shrimpton
Managing Director at Vanquis Banking Group
About
Bio: David Shrimpton is the Managing Director of Moneybarn, the vehicle finance division of Vanquis Banking Group. He has been married to his husband for 33 years and is a proud and active member of the LGBTQ+ community.
David has over 30 years local, regional and global customer service and operations experience, all within the finance sector. David's expertise lies with his ability to develop innovative approaches to business problems and take business ideas from concept to reality.
David has used his platform to be an advocate for the Inclusivity and Diversity Agenda (I&D) which he feels is at the heart of the business. Not only does he believe it’s the right thing to do, but he understands that recognising important differences in colleagues will allow them to thrive and feel comfortable in an organisation they can positively identify with. He also strongly believes that it’s integral to any organisation to truly understand the diversity of its customers in order to design & match products & services effectively.
David is the Executive sponsor of the LGBTQ+ Affinity Group. Being an openly gay man, David has used his wide network, connections, and positive experiences to get support from his fellow Executive and Board members. By doing so, the Affinity Group now has the resources, budget, and momentum to really push through initiatives and make significant changes in the business.
In February 2023 for LGBT+ History Month David took it upon himself to share his personal experiences and his coming out story. He wanted to use this opportunity to educate the business through connective experiences such as LGBTQ+ exhibitions, literature, films, TV shows and events so that any fear around the community was reduced, and to ensure a better understanding and inclusive work environment.
