Lydia Garratt

Assistant Investment Manager at Smith & Williams

About

Bio: Lydia is an Investment Manager in the Charities Team at Smith and Williamson and also works as Mining & Metals equity analyst, providing research on the sector to the front office. She started on the Smith & Williamson graduate programme in 2018 having studied Politics at Durham University and is currently studying towards the CISI Charted Wealth Masters qualification.

Promoting diversity and inclusion throughout her company, and the industry as a whole, is of great importance to Lydia and has become a central part of her work; she is an active member of the Smith & Williamson's Women's Network through the steering group and is also part of the #includedAWM working group, which brings together representatives from leading wealth and asset managers with the aim to enhance diversity and inclusion across financial services. Outside of working hours, Lydia volunteers as a mentor for the Girls' Network, a charity which aims to empower girls from the least advantaged communities. Her most recent achievement has been successfully enrolling Smith & Williamson as a corporate sponsor of the charity.

Lydia comments, "Until we have true diversity of demographic & representation, we won't have diversity of thought, which in turn won't be able to remedy the systemic issues plaguing the Investments industry and allow us to move forward."
