Bio: Sinead works for PIMCO, where she recruits individuals in the US and EMEA across a number of different business areas. Sinead is also a member of the Diversity Project's early career stream, supporting the running of the "UpReach" programme. Sinead has been engaged with the Diversity Project for over 2 years, and works to put an emphasis on D&I initiatives in the industry as a whole, through all the work she does.
Sinead has a strong interest in the cognitive differences that diverse teams bring. She notes that there are many studies that highlight better outcomes, productivity, and performance from diverse teams, and a large part of that is through including people with different experiences and backgrounds. Furthermore, by providing that diversity of experience, many companies will then find themselves with greater diversity of identity as well.
Sinead comments: "A large part of my role is working to get people interested in joining the industry, but for many who might not see themselves reflected in the workforce, this is a barrier. The way I try to work through this is by making sure that we're building a better industry for those that are joining. Our industry might not change overnight, but we can all make small changes to create more inclusive spaces for everyone."
