LGBT Great is an initiative created by The Ocean Partnership.

We are the global LGBT+ investment industry network for firms and individuals. Together, we are working towards profiling and attracting 1000 LGBT+ people for the industry within the next 5 years.

Meet the Team


Matt Cameron - Founder, Managing Director

Matt launched LGBT Great in 2017 with the vision to create LGBT+ inclusion within the global investment industry. Through the development of insights, visibility and outreach, LGBT Great’s mission is to profile and attract 1000 LGBT+ and ally individuals for the sector in 5 years. Matt holds a BA (Hons) degree in History from the University of Birmingham and started his career working with the investment industry in 2009. In 2015 he co-launched The Ocean Partnership, a recruitment and inclusion firm dedicated to investment industry. His team partners with over 40 firms globally to help increase people diversity and encourage the adoption of more inclusive cultures. Through LGBT Great Matt hopes to inspire the investment industry to open its doors to LGBT+ talent and also to provide LGBT+ individuals with access to opportunities within the sector. Peter Hall - Project Director

Peter joins LGBT Great with over twenty years diversity and inclusion advisory experience across a range of sectors. He is  is excited to focus on the investment industry specifically and is a passionate advocate for LGBT+ inclusion in business and wider society. Throughout his career Peter has launched and led several LGBT+ groups and also supported organisations to be recognised as Stonewall Top 100 employers. Prior to joining he was the Member Engagement Manager for the Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion where he worked across 90 organisations in the U.K. Peter regularly delivers LGBT+ focussed training and consultancy and develops effective LGBT+ inclusion strategies. 



David Maloney - Project Chair

"At PwC, I help organisations benefit from innovation and disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain. Diversity has always been important to me, and I've had the privilege of working with and leading diverse teams, but now it's more important than ever. It is, of course, the right thing to do for our people.




James Rendell - Operations Leader 

James holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Business Management and joined Ocean to build our Sales, Marketing & Distribution recruitment specialisation. He is also responsible for generating ideas of innovation and assessing the ways in which technology can be infused within the recruitment process.





Andrew Lennox - Advisory Group

Andrew joined Hermes in April 2018 with 18 years of previous experience working in financial services, of which 13 years was managing structured finance as a portfolio manager.




Sarah Bates - Advisory Group

Sarah joined the Board of St James’s Place Plc as an independent Non-executive Director in 2004. She also joined the Investment Committee at that time. She was appointed Chair on 1st January 2014 and is also Chair of the Nominations Committee.





Sophie Cook - Advisory Group

Sophie is a professional speaker helping businesses to understand the positive contribution of creating an inclusive environment for their LGBT employees and clients. Helping to reduce the fear of change that so often inhibits businesses and individuals ability to reach their full potentia





Pips Bunce - Advisory Group

Along with her role as Director and Head of GM Technology Core Engineering Integration Components, Pips is co-chair of the firm’s LGBT Ally Program which aims to encourage an inclusive work culture where all are encouraged to bring their whole self to work and to promote authenticity in the workplace regardless of gender identity, gender expression or sexuality.
