Overview

This session will emphasise the importance of accurate and respectful language for all LGBTQ+ identities. Participants will gain practical tips for using inclusive pronouns and terminology, and learn how to create an inclusive communication environment. The session will also explore strategies for fostering open and respectful conversations about LGBTQ+ issues across generations and examine how language structures can promote inclusivity.

Learning Outcomes for Attendees:

  • Importance of Accurate and Respectful Language: We will begin by discussing why using appropriate language is crucial when referring to and discussing LGBTQ+ individuals and communities. (~10 minutes)
     
  • Fostering Intergenerational Conversations: We will explore strategies for facilitating respectful and open dialogue about LGBTQ+ topics across different age groups. (~10 minutes)
     
  • Practical Tips for Inclusive Communication: This segment will provide practical guidance on using correct pronouns, terminology, and other language choices to foster inclusivity. (~20 minutes)
     
  • Language and Inclusive Structures: This section will examine how different languages promote inclusivity and accessibility. (~15 minutes)
     
  • Dedicated Q/A: A dedicated Q/A slot at the end of the session. (~5 minutes)


Length: 45-60 minutes

Format:  Zoom/Teams Webinar, PowerPoint Presentation with live Q&A, chat and live polling. (In-Person sessions available on-demand)
