Beena Joseph
Head of HR at WisdomTree
About
Bio: Beena was born in Mumbai, India, a melting pot of different cultures, religions, languages and dialects. Before moving to London in 2004, she studied Hotel Management. Most of her roles have been within leading hotel brands, where she deputised for the hotel manager and was responsible for the day to day running of the hotel and ensuring seamless guest services across all departments.
6 years ago, she changed careers from hospitality to financial services and currently heads up HR for WisdomTree's European business. Beena is responsible for the firm's European HR functions from recruitment through to training and benefits. She has a CIPD Diploma in Human Resources Management and extensive experience in implementing programs focused on increasing staff efficiency and achieving organisational goals. Beena also leads the WisdomTree Women network which aims to encourage female empowerment and leadership within the organisation.
She comments "I am passionate about helping to create a world which is equal and treats everyone with dignity and respect. We can do this not only by supporting underrepresented groups like the LGBT+ community but also calling out unacceptable behaviours. Each time we don't speak up we are delaying true change, we become responsible for action of others when we stay silent. I have recently started to work on a project with Mermaids, a charity that supports transgender and gender variant young people."
