About
Bio: Originally from California, Sitara Zafar joined Northern Trust in June 2017 in the Tax Product team, managing all Regulatory Tax products affecting the global business. Previous to joining Northern Trust, Sitara worked across other international professional services organisations, where she gained her tax and business development experience specialising in US entities, regulatory, and expatriate taxation.
She has a Masters in Science in Federal Taxation from Golden Gate University, a Bachelors in International Relations from San Francisco State University, and is currently enrolled in a BSC level 4 Data Analytics apprenticeship program.
Sitara is also the co-chair of the Northern Trust Pride Business Resource Council in London where she drives an engaging and inspiring programme of events and initiatives. In her role as co-chair, Sitara continues to educate, raise awareness and advocate for the LGBT+ community within the organisation, whilst providing an intersectional lens on the firm's LGBT+ strategy.
Sitara comments: "I'm enthused to be a part of Project 1000 role model. As an Afghan American Lesbian, I believe now more than ever that visibility is important within the financial sectors to continue to break down traditional hetero-normative barriers within the LGBT+ community."
