Ted Meyer
Head of Global Corp Comms at Natixis Investment Managers
About
Bio: Ted is Senior VP of Global Public Relations and Corporate Communications for Natixis Investment Managers, one of the world's largest asset managers with over $1 trillion of assets under management. Before joining Natixis, he was head of communications and marketing for Reality Shares, an award-winning start-up ETF firm, where he also created the DIVCON rating system, which is the foundation for three ETFs.
Previously, Ted was Vice President of Global Corporate Communications for First Solar, the world's largest solar energy company, where he led communications worldwide including media and public relations, marketing communications, internal communications, community relations and creative services.
Prior to joining First Solar in 2010, Ted was Head of Communications in the Americas for Deutsche Bank, where he worked for 10 years. In that capacity he led the Deutsche Bank's media relations, internal communications and brand communications throughout Americas. Before that, Meyer worked at UBS in media relations and corporate communications in the Americas.
Diversity, inclusion and equality is of huge importance to Ted. He is executive sponsor for the firm's All Equals LGBT+ group in North America and supports Natixis Investment Managers in driving regional awareness-building initiatives. He also works closely with the firm's executive leadership team, including the CEO, across the firms affiliate businesses, to devise and articulate effective diversity and inclusion policies and strategies.
Ted's support of the LGBT+ agenda is visible and clear. He is a passionate ally to the community and was invited to sponsor the internal network by a colleague who recognised his support. Since this time, he has taken a key role in helping to drive engagement, connect the firm externally and raise the profile of the agenda across the firm. It was also a proud moment for him when the firm changed its logo to recognise Pride and he was an influential voice behind this action.
Ted believes it is especially important for corporate leaders to be move beyond passive support and to use their stature to build awareness, educate and drive change. Working with Natixis' Pride group has taught him the important role that even small but visible gestures play in building an atmosphere where people feel free to be themselves.
Ted comments: "Inclusion doesn't end when we leave the office at the end of the day. It's important that our support for the LGBT+ community extends throughout our lives so we can foster a sense of belonging in whatever we do.".
Ted is known for his love of adventure and the outdoors. He is a rock and ice climber training to summit high peaks around the world, and his love of skiing and mountain biking often takes him into risky terrain. He is also a devoted cyclist, averaging more than 4,000 miles per year, including a dicey commute through Boston he rides year-round. Earlier in his life Ted raced motorcycles, but he now prefers the relative serenity of driving cars on the racetrack. In his younger days, he also played football and hockey.
Ted adds: "I believe deeply in equality for all and that it's important we speak up and support our LGBT+ colleagues and friends. I am honored to recognised as a Project 1000 executive ally and will continue my to work to enhance our LGBT+ inclusion agenda so that we can create an environment where everyone feels empowered and confident.".
