Charlie Beeson
Deputy Chief of Staff, Infrastructure at Man Group
About
Bio: Charlie Beeson is the Deputy Chief of Staff for Infrastructure at Man Group, where she supports Man Group's Infrastructure departments and its executives with a particular focus on corporate social responsibility, our technology training initiative <develop>, as well as python automation and data science initiatives. Prior to this, Charlie worked as a Senior Business Manager and member of the Technology Leadership Committee, as well as holding a number of front-office software engineering roles at Man Group.
Charlie holds an MSc in Physics with Astronomy, jointly awarded from the University of Southampton and Harvard University. Her research contributions to the field of Near-Earth Asteroids at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics were recognised with the naming of a main-belt asteroid in her honour, "5241 Beeson". She also holds an MSc in Financial Computing from University College London and is currently a candidate in the Executive MBA programme at the University of Warwick.
Charlie is an active member of Man Group's LGBT+ employee network, Pride@Man. She prides herself in being empathetic, bringing her personal experience of how extra challenges can emerge when you come from an underrepresented background. With this mindset, she proudly mentors and supports women; people of colour, non-binary and/or neurodivergent backgrounds; and transgender colleagues and friends. Charlie hopes to see and create a further shift in our communal thinking such that gender norms and stereotypes break down completely, opening up opportunities for people of all genders. Inclusive workplaces make for much smarter teams and they're what's right for society, so Charlie is thrilled to be a part of the LGBT Great Project 1000 and everything it stands for.
