About
Bio: Stuart is Executive Director, Business Development at Impax Asset Management, a leading specialist asset manager focused on investing in the transition to a more sustainable economy. Based in London, Stuart is responsible for supporting the implementation of Impax's strategy and business development activities, developing and strengthening key client partnerships, and leading the continued evolution of the firm's systematic equities commercial strategy. He is also a member of Impax's Management Committee.
Prior to joining Impax in 2026, Stuart spent 15 years with HSBC Asset Management, most recently serving as Chief Executive Officer and Board Director of HSBC Global Asset Management (UK) Ltd, overseeing approximately USD 140 billion in assets under management. He also held the role of Global Head of Strategy for HSBC Global Asset Management, the HSBC Group's USD 600 billion asset management business, leading strategy, M&A, and corporate management activities. During his tenure, Stuart was a member of the Global Management Committee, Global Leadership Team, and Global Risk Management Committee.
A passionate advocate for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I), Stuart previously served as accountable executive and co-chair of HSBC Asset Management's global DE&I programme, supporting more than 250 volunteers across 14 countries. He also sponsored the organisation's Mental Health & Wellness workstream, reflecting his long-standing commitment to creating inclusive workplaces where individuals can thrive.
Stuart currently serves as a Non-Executive Board Director of the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST), the UK Government's workplace pension scheme. He has also served as a Trustee Director of HSBC Bank Pension Trust (UK) Limited and Chair of its Investment Committee, working alongside investment consultants and asset managers to oversee the investment strategy of one of the UK's largest pension schemes.
Before HSBC, Stuart held senior business development and investment management roles at Insight Investment and Threadneedle Asset Management, where he began his career in investment management in 1998.
Stuart holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and European Studies (German) from the University of Sussex and the University of Freiburg, and an MBA from London Business School. He also holds the CFA Investment Management Certificate, CFA ESG Investing Certificate, and the PMI Award in Pension Trusteeship. Stuart serves on the Advisory Board of The Diversity Project and is a member of the UK Investment Association's Trade & Investment Committee.
A dedicated advocate for mental health awareness, Stuart is committed to helping eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health in both the workplace and wider society. In 2016, alongside his four brothers, he raised more than £50,000 for charity by competing in the Marathon des Sables. Their journey was documented in the film Brothers in the Sand, available on Amazon Prime.
Married with two daughters, Stuart remains passionate about inclusive leadership, authenticity, and creating environments where people feel empowered to be themselves and perform at their best.
