About
Bio: Ryan O'Keeffe joined BlackRock in October 2018 as a Managing Director, overseeing the firm's Corporate Communications activities in the EMEA region. He is a member of the EMEA Executive Committee, and co-Chair of the EMEA External Affairs Committee. He is also EMEA Executive Sponsor of the OUT & Allies Network, BlackRock’s LGBTQ+ employee network.
Mr O'Keeffe joined BlackRock from Enel, Europe's largest power company, where he was Group Director of Communications with responsibility for media relations, brand strategy, advertising, internal communications and digital communications at Group level. He was a member of the Group's Executive Committee, and led a team of Communications professionals in more than 40 markets around the world.
Prior to Enel, Mr O'Keeffe was a Partner at the strategic communications consultancy Finsbury, where he spent 8 years in both the London and New York offices. He started his career in investment banking at UBS, based first in Johannesburg and then in London.
In 2018, Mr O'Keeffe was named Italy's most influential corporate communications leader, and in 2020 he was listed among the 100 most influential in-house communications professionals globally. He has been a guest lecturer on corporate affairs at universities in Italy and the UK, at both undergraduate and post-graduate level.
He is a proud South African, a keen sportsman and passionate about his family, nature conservation in Africa, and education.
