Reece Maycock

Legal Transformation Officer & Social Mobility Lead at Aviva

Reece is currently responsible for technology and external finance in the legal function at Aviva, ensuring the teams have the platforms they need to perform their roles and adhering to robust cost practices. He is also responsible for the function's social mobility strategy and driving increased participation in social mobility-based events.

Reece's career thus far has included working in general insurance as a supply chain manager, overseeing suppliers investigating fraudulent claims. His career has also included the creation and bringing to market of life insurance products in overseas markets - specifically the first ever digital life and critical illness insurance products in Hong Kong. His current focus is now on legal operations.

For Reece, visibility is the most important reason to support LGBT+ inclusion. He feels it is essential that when LGBT+ individuals join a workforce, they see people at all levels of the business achieving great things, being openly LGBT+ and seeing that this is not held against them. He hopes to show through his own achievements and progression at work that being LGBT+ does not have to place a ceiling on the level<s>s</s> you can reach.

Reece feels privileged to work for a company that supports inclusion in all its forms. Aviva has a group of communities, each focusing on different aspects of inclusion. These are supported with resources, sponsors, power and influence. These communities bring about positive change by raising awareness of policies, participating in and hosting events, bringing in expert external speakers to educate and creating a culture of openness. Aviva has a long history of participating in events like Pride and (for example) being one of only two accredited Living Hours Employers.
