About
Bio: Anna is an Investment Director at ABRDN and she is based in London. Previously to this Anna worked in the Investment Division as Head of Strategic Partnerships in the Fixed Income team, where she was responsible for the internal collaboration between fixed income, product and distribution. Her role was to help make sure the strategy of the Fixed Income team could be executed smoothly. She started her career in Investment Banking where she worked in Fixed Income Sales and in Debt Capital Markets.
Anna is a strong advocate for diversity as she understands the barriers to entry that occur because of misconceptions and old fashioned processes. Anna says "I took a 5 year career break whilst working in investment banking. It was in the middle of the financial crisis and the pressure and culture at the time made it (in my view) impossible to sustain a happy balance between family and work. When I decided to return to work, I realised how difficult it was to fit in. I sometimes felt compelled to explain my life choices. Having said that, things are a lot easier today than they were 10 years ago. I strongly believe in supporting the LGBT community because they suffer similar (if not worse) misconceptions and barriers to entry. I have realised that different experiences, thoughts, viewpoints, approaches, make up the DNA of successful companies. It is important to advocate for diversity as a whole, because the more we shout about it, the more we will be heard. The more people show interest and act, the faster we will see results."
Anna is passionate about helping to empower women who want to return to work after a career break, she is a mentor to women entrepreneurs in developing countries and for young professionals
