Ash Kenzi
Financial Advisor at Aviva
About
Bio: I'm a financial advisor within Aviva, hoping to help clients feel more empowered about their future goals and retirement strategies. It's important, now more than ever, that we are able to map a way through the spider's web of financial complexity to achieve peace of mind when it comes to our future finances so that we can spend today focusing on what's important.
My friend was part of her company's LGBTQ group and helped organise events and talk to colleagues about issues they were struggling with - this really helped me accept authenticity at work and openly come out online. It has also really motivated me to help other's in the same way.
I am now part of the LGBTQ group at work, I actively encourage both queer and neurodiverse clients to share life stories and plan for their futures that shape out differently to others. I had posted on our work's internal site about pride, authenticity and the importance of love for all regardless of age, race, sexual orientation or gender identity which was seen by the senior leaders and I hope this will play a small part in ensuring DIA is prioritised in the office.
It's important to see representation in a way that identifies with something in your circumstances - whether it be having a similar background, same job, same interest etc, as this allows you to feel less isolated and helps to re-enforce the message that if they are able to be accepted and find love and peace being themselves, then maybe I am able to also. It also provides a lighthouse that someone may turn to in times of need to talk things out/ soundboard/ get directions to tap into professional help.
We can't heal the world today but we can begin with a voice of compassion, a heart of love, an act of kindness.
