About
Bio: Francesca Canty has 30 years of experience as a cultural producer and consultant, leading and developing projects and programmes in Russia, Brazil and the UK. She is currently Artistic Director & Chief Executive at Bishopsgate Institute in the City of London, building partnerships and audiences for a diverse and unusual programme of cultural activity and learning.
Her current role is extremely wide-ranging and includes acting as Company Secretary, the management of people, premises, performance, finance, and venue management, permanent endowment and trading company management, programming, marketing & audiences, venue hire development, Grade II* listed building challenge navigation, Personal Licence Holder, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, data protection and audience development, capital projects and special collections management, visual identity and brand guardianship, social media and communications strategy, partnership development, charity SORP and Charities Act compliance, duty management and building security (on occasion), stakeholder management (including Trustees), and now also leading on HR, fundraising, marketing and the strategic development and interpretation of our collections.
From 2008 to 2012, she led the development of the UK-wide Cultural Olympiad for the London 2012 Games, devising and refining opportunities for the widest range of participants to gain recognition for their Games-inspired work. She also led on the relationships with the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee, providing mentorship and support to the Russian team as they grappled with the challenges of their own Cultural Olympiad. Furthermore, she led on the relationship with the Rio 2016 Organising Committee, as well as Brazilian Federal and Rio de Janeiro State and City governments on the development of their own cultural programme and legacy for the 2016 Games.
