Adam Chate
Senior Pensions Manager at 3i plc
About
Bio: Adam is the Senior Pensions Manager at 3i and has extensive experience within the financial services sector. 3i is a leading international investor focused on mid-market Private Equity and Infrastructure.
Adam started his career in pension scheme administration before moving into pensions consultancy at Mercer. He then moved in-house and worked in the Pensions & Benefits team at Barclays before joining 3i. At 3i, Adam is responsible for managing various retirement and employee benefits arrangements for 3i employees and acts as executive support for the trustees of 3i's legacy UK defined benefit pension plan.
Adam is originally from London. He has a degree in Sociology & Social Policy from the University of Southampton, and is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute. In his spare time (when he's not busy being a parent!) he enjoys keeping fit and singing in a choir. He's also interested in general wellbeing, travel, history and current affairs.

Earlier on in his career, Adam found coming out at work more difficult, partly due to the lack of other openly LGBT+ role models within the industry. Being open about his sexuality at work is hugely important to him and, he hopes, contributes to a culture/environment in which others can do the same. He sees having visible role models who are either from the LGBT+ community themselves or are openly supportive of the LGBT+ community as vital. This is what first drew Adam to LGBT Great.
"I am delighted to be recognised as an LGBT Great Project 1000 Role Model because organisational visibility is important to me and has helped me to feel safe and secure during my career personally. It is the responsibility of us all to help create an environment which is welcoming and empowering for LGBT+ people"
