Bio: Melíosa O’Caoimh, Country Head of Northern Trust’s business in Ireland. Northern Trust is one of Ireland’s largest fund administrators and global custodians, employing more than 1,800 people across offices in Dublin and Limerick. Melíosa previously held roles at Northern Trust as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Client Relationship Management.
Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2003, Melíosa spent eight years with Pioneer Global Investments in various management roles including Finance Director and latterly as Head of European Transfer Agency. Prior to that Melíosa worked with Arthur Andersen & Company, Chartered Accountants.
Meliosa is a committed Executive Sponsor and advocate of the firm’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts. Under her leadership, female representation at senior level has moved from 37% in 2019 to 44% in 2024. Meliosa led the firm’s signatory of the Women in Finance Charter in Ireland, setting a target of improving senior female representation from 44% to 48% by 2025. Meliosa was chair of the 30% Club in Ireland from 2022-2024. During her tenure, Meliosa executed on a variety of priorities including expanding the network’s reach and ensuring the network is fully inclusive of diverse groups.
Meliosa is an active ally and advocate to the LGBT+ community, sponsoring – and marching – in the Limerick and Dublin pride parades, alongside employees, clients, friends, family and Irish community members. In 2024, she was a panellist on an internal LGBT+ History Month discussion, exploring the importance of role modelling, effective allyship, and cultivating a LGBT+ inclusive culture.
Meliosa received a B.A degree in Economics and Politics at University College Dublin. Meliosa is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and a Member of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland.
Meliosa is currently Deputy President of The Institute of Bankers in Ireland. She is also co-chair of Business in the Community’s “Building Sustainable Capabilities” subgroup. Melíosa was on the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland from 2008 to 2014. Melíosa also sat on the Board of the National Maternity Hospital Foundation for six years.
