Bio: Christopher Barlow is the Head of NEHS LCC, and was appointed General Counsel, EMEA, in February 2014 and Joint Wholesale CCO in November 2022.
The NEHS LCC function is made up of a team of Legal and Compliance experts, based across the EMEA region, who support the Front Office and Corporate functions with all Legal, Compliance and Conduct matters. The team plays a fundamental role in supporting the firm to manage its legal, regulatory and reputational risk. As part of his Wholesale CCO role, Chris is responsible for ensuring that there is a
globally consistent level of support and control to the business.
Christopher joined Nomura in 2003, and before his appointment as General Counsel, he was Head of Corporate Legal and Litigation, EMEA, leading a team of lawyers managing all non-transactional legal issues, including litigation, employment, company secretarial, IP, IT and commercial matters.
Christopher is a member of the EMEA Executive Committee; Company Secretary of the Nomura Europe Holdings plc (NEHS), Nomura International plc (NIP) and Nomura Bank International plc (NBI) Boards; and chair of the Reputational Risk Management Committee. Prior to joining Nomura, Christopher spent six years in private practice at Simmons & Simmons, a leading international law firm. Christopher qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and as a solicitor-advocate in 2003.
He qualified with distinction from the London College of Law in 1996 and also has a BA degree in Modern History from the University of Wales.
Christopher is married with two children and lives in Essex.
