Yasmin Benoit
Visiting Fellow at King's College London
About
Bio: Yasmin Benoit is a British model, multi-award-winning asexual activist, writer, speaker, consultant and researcher. Described as the "unlikely face of asexuality" by Cosmopolitan Magazine, she quickly became a leading voice for the community after publicly coming out in 2017.
She started the #ThisIsWhatAsexualLooksLike movement for diverse asexual visibility and representation and co-founded International Asexuality Day (April 6). She won 'Campaigner of the Year' at the Rainbow Honours Awards in 2022, was the first asexual grand marshal at NYC Pride 2023, and the first asexual person to lead Pride in London in 2024. Her work has been featured across British and international press, including MTV, British Vogue, Vogue Greece, NBC News, the BBC, Glamour Magazine and Forbes.
Stepping into the world of research, Yasmin released a ground breaking report into asexual experiences and discrimination in partnership with Stonewall, as part of the UK's first asexual rights initiative. Since then, she has started doing more research into asexuality with Kings College London, and has become a key figure in campaigning for asexual inclusion in British legislation.
