Mildred Prita Rozario
Senior Operations Specialist at Brown Brothers Harriman
About
Bio: Mildred Prita Rozario is a Senior Operations Specialist at Brown Brothers Harriman. Mildred had quite the journey towards becoming an ally. Her story of growing up homophobic in Bangladesh and early years of high school in New York City at her company’s Pride Month Signature Event had touched peoples’ hearts and moved them to tears. Mildred saw the struggle first-hand when her high school best friend came out to her as gay and was tormented by his family.
Since then, the passion to fight homophobia has been ingrained in her. In college, Mildred spoke on a United Nations Association Human Rights panel to advocate for gay rights. For her 2nd major International Studies, her final capstone research paper topic was, “what does it mean to be someone from the LGBTQ+ community in Bangladesh”. For that paper, she interviewed her former classmate from Bangladesh who is a trans person. Because of her allyship, they were able to confide in her.
Mildred promotes her church’s LGBT Ministry’s Pride mass every year. She encourages her family and friends to watch movies and shows of trans/gay struggle. While continuing to support LGBTQ+ rights in America, she hopes to see the Pride flag raised in her homeland someday.
