I am a member of the Pride Business Resource Group Leadership Team. I am honored to be a part of such a phenomenal team of courageous, thoughtful and genuine individuals who care deeply about creating a culture where everyone can be their authentic selves. We have more than doubled our membership in the last year, held safe, courageous conversations for our members, brought in speakers to help educate our entire firm, held fundraisers for the LGBTQ+ community and participated in a philanthropic activity where we created activity bags for teens and children seeking consultation at Children's Mercy Hospital's Gender Pathways Clinic. I also helped drive our firm's membership in the Mid-America LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce. These are some of the many ways I have supported DE&I within American Century Investments. Additionally, I am the Director of Allyship for Pride on our firm's Allies for Action leadership team; this is a group dedicated to learning how to be strong allies and helping others grow as allies through education and conversations as well!
I am proud to be a Project 1000 Role Model because I am passionate about, and care deeply for, our LBBTQ+ team members at American Century Investments and our industry. Our founder, James E. Stowers said, "If we help others become successful, they, in turn, will make us successful." I believe that if we can make each one of us feel seen and valued, we will all be more successful in both our professional and personal lives. I want to help all marginalized groups be seen by my efforts to learn, my giving, my listening and my actions. I want to inspire those in our industry to be visible for simply being themselves.
