Bio: Gordon is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant and is currently the Head of Fund and Asset Controlling at Principal Asset Management. He has overall responsibility for all aspects of fund and client accounting on their European real estate platform and is a member of Principal Asset Management’s diversity and inclusion employee resource group (ERG).
After many years in the closet, especially in a professional context, Gordon was amazed by the marked improvement in personal wellbeing, productivity, and professional relationships once he came out at work. In fact, Gordon describes this process as allowing greater access to his authentic self. The catalyst for this was seeing out and open LGBT+ colleagues in financial services businesses in the United States reach the top of their disciplines.
Gordon believes that for many people it is easier to be something if you can see it, which is why he joined the LGBT+ ERG at Principal Asset Management. Gordon’s approach is to facilitate good-faith conversations around the topics of diversity and inclusion, LGBT+ matters, and the intersectionality of people’s realities.
