About
Bio: Lewis is Head of Compliance at Quilter Financial Planning. After finishing secondary school, and having decided against going into further education, he opted instead to go straight into the workforce, where he spent his early career in the hospitality and social care industries. His entrance into the financial services industry came when he began working for a company that supported people who had been mis-sold investments.
This role acted as the catalyst for his move into compliance and Lewis remains passionate about ensuring the safety of the financial services industry. As Head of Compliance at Quilter, Lewis is responsible for leading a team that supports the company in understanding and managing its regulatory and conduct risks. Through the provision of independent oversight, guidance and challenge, they ensure customers receive fair outcomes, and that the company achieves its strategic objectives in the safest possible manner.
Lewis is also part of Quilter’s LGBT+ Network and joined after reading a range of coming out stories shared by Quilter network members. Lewis is a vocal and visible role-model and has been crucial in leading the conversation around getting more senior leaders into allyship roles within LGBT+ and other diversity networks.
“In our industry, we use ‘tone from the top’ often when discussing culture and I felt strongly that we needed more visible leaders that are openly gay to make people feel safer about being themselves at work (I should say we have a lot of senior allies… just not out).”
In his spare time, Lewis is usually found planning his next trip abroad, rummaging through record shops, going to gigs and playing the bass guitar.
