Overview

In this introductory session, we will explore the core principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) and their foundational significance. We will then delve into the four key pillars that constitute LGBTQ+ identities, providing a comprehensive understanding of this spectrum. Through a data-driven approach, we will uncover the compelling reasons for prioritising DE&I in today's world. Finally, we will introduce the concept of allyship and its crucial role in fostering an inclusive environment for the LGBTQ+ community.

Learning Outcomes for Attendees:

• Foundations of DE&I: We will begin by establishing a solid understanding of DE&I, its fundamental principles, and its relevance in contemporary society. (~15 minutes)
   
• Understanding LGBTQ+ Identities: This segment will explore the four pillars that form LGBTQ+ identities, clarifying terminology and addressing common misconceptions. (~15 minutes)
   
• The Importance of DE&I: A Data-Driven Perspective: Using compelling data and statistics, we will demonstrate the tangible benefits and necessity of DE&I initiatives. (~10 minutes)
   
• Introduction to Allyship: We will introduce the concept of allyship, discussing its significance and practical ways to become an effective ally to the LGBTQ+ community. (~10 minutes)
   
• Dedicated Q/A: A dedicated Q/A slot at the end of the session. (~10 minutes)
