Alongside his role as Head of Fund Reporting and Regulatory change at Legal and General Investment Management, Deon is chair of the LGBT+ Allies network which represent and brings together their LGBT community and allies.
Arriving in London via South Africa, Deon started his financial career at a leading private wealth manager as the Client Service Manager before joining legal and general 7 years ago. Deon is a mentor, life coach and NLP practitioner who is passionate about people and development.
As the newly appointed Chair, he has ambitious plans to utilise this platform to foster an inclusive and genuine environment for employees to be themselves. Through this formal network he hopes to create open debate, bring together LGBT people and non-LGBT supporters together to put in place initiatives across Legal & General. The key focus being the education of peers through ally training, video screenings, discussion panels and key note speakers.
Being a passionate believer in equality, diversity and inclusion he’s sees the LGBT Great Initiative as a fantastic catalyst to drive change in the investment industry. He is honoured to be an LBT Great Role Model and looks forward to collaborating with the project as we increase diversity and champion change.
He recognises that the industry has come a long way, but there is plenty more to be done.
He believes that we all have a key role to play in driving this change and through fostering a culture of inclusion and diversity we can make a difference.
